WSCA Visits Operating Engineers training center, gaining an inside look at the next generation of heavy equipment operator training and workforce development.
The visit brought together industry leaders, including Charlie Nobles of WSCA, Kara Liniger of Ames Construction, and Larry Hopkins, Director of Training for Operating Engineers Local 12, along with other partners committed to strengthening the construction workforce pipeline.
During the tour, participants experienced a range of hands-on training environments designed to prepare operators for real-world field conditions. This included demonstrations of advanced equipment simulators, with Herb Tiffany IV taking the opportunity to test one firsthand. The group also observed scrapers in active operation in the field, showcasing the practical, jobsite-focused training that defines the program.
The Devore Training Center represents a continued investment in workforce development, providing trainees with the skills, confidence, and experience needed to succeed in today’s evolving construction industry.
